About the Grant

Water is an integral part of life, community and wellbeing. To help protect and celebrate the importance of water, particularly drinking water, in your community, the FNHA Drinking Water Safety Program would like to invite you to submit a proposal for your community water awareness day event or activity.

The objective of the Our Community, Our Water Grant is to support awareness and preservation of First Nation's community drinking water sources.

As part of this grant, the FNHA will provide from $500 to $5,000 (maximum), for BC First Nations Communities to support hosting a Water Awareness Day Event.

Grant Eligibility and Criteria

All BC First Nations Communities are eligible to apply with support from the Community Health Department.

Successful applicants are able to receive funding for an Our Community, Our Water Day Event once per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).

Your event or activity should include:

  • information about your Community's sources for drinking water
  • how the water is treated before it reaches people's homes and facilities
  • source water protection and conservation

The event or activity must be held before March 31, 2023. Final reports must be received no later than 60 days after the event ends.

Grant Aims

The Our Water, Our Community Grant is meant to support a fun and educational community-driven event or activity that aims to enhance community knowledge and education about the community's drinking water system, and protection and conservation of the community's water supply.
