Announcing the Youth Winners of the Healing Our Spirit Worldwide Logo Contest

8/29/2022

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is pleased to recognize and honour the 10 youth whose logos will be featured at Healing Our Spirit Worldwide (HOSW) – the Ninth Gathering.

As the host of the Ninth Gathering, the FNHA invited Indigenous adults and youth in Canada to enter a logo contest for the opportunity to be featured at HOSW. From the 44 adult entries, the one submitted by Gregory Barker of Bonaparte Indian Band was chosen as the main logo for the gathering. Members of the HOSW selection panel were so inspired and humbled by the creativity and spirit of the youth artworks that they selected all entries for display.

Youth logos will be featured on banners throughout the Gathering, in wellness rooms and during functions such as the dinner and youth and elder activities.

The FNHA raises our hands to these talented young artists:

  • Samantha Gibbon, 25, Metis Nation of Alberta and descendent of Peayasis Band
  • Lisa Wilson (Kîsikâw ahcâhk iskwêw, Sk̓úz̓ús), 25, Mushkegowuk (Cree) and St̓át̓imc (Interior Salish)

Hosted by the FNHA, the theme of HOSW – the Ninth Gathering is “Celebrating Resiliency". The event will take place from Sept. 11 to 15, 2023 in Vancouver, British Columbia on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) People. The FNHA welcomes and encourages youth to participate in the event.
