The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) encourages all clients who are travelling for medical appointments to have their proof of vaccination ready to prevent delays.

Starting Oct. 30, 2021, Canada will require all travellers aged 12 and older to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 to board a plane, train or non-essential passenger marine vessel at a federally-regulated domestic or international terminal.

FNHA clients who are travelling for medical appointments will need to show Canadian COVID-19 proof of vaccination if they are:

  • flying on a domestic flight within BC or Canada
  • travelling by VIA Rail

The requirement does not apply to passengers boarding BC Ferries.

Full vaccination means a series of Health Canada–approved vaccines, with the last dose administered at least 14 full days prior to the day of travel. Combinations of approved vaccines are acceptable for domestic travel.

Travellers who are in the process of becoming fully-vaccinated will have a transition period. During this period, which ends on Nov. 30, 2021, they will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their departure date in order to travel.

The FNHA encourages people who are fully-vaccinated to carry a printed copy of their BC proof of vaccination, showing the dates they received their doses.
