The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) congratulates Charlene Belleau for accepting a critical new position with the BC Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. Minister Murray Rankin announced the appointment at a media event held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

In this new role, Belleau will act as a crucial communication link between BC First Nations communities and federal and provincial government agencies, and provide advice to the province on matters related to former residential school and hospital sites in BC. This work will be instrumental in helping residential school survivors, their families, and communities on their healing journeys.

Charlene Belleau is a former Chief of the Esk'etemc First Nation and former Chair of the FNHC. Charlene has served in senior leadership roles and has a lengthy history of advocacy at the local, provincial and national levels.

We look forward to working with Charlene in her new capacity and continuing to collaborate with our system partners to address long-standing trauma and support the healing and wellbeing of BC First Nations.
