FNHA Releases New Summary Service Plan

5/2/2022

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) has released its new multi-year health and wellness plan, Paddling Together: First Nations Health Authority Health and Wellness Plan, which will map the next phase of its journey as a First Nations organization. This is the first year of the new multi-year plan that will guide the FNHA towards its Shared Vision of “Healthy, Self-Determining and Vibrant BC First Nations Children, Families and Communities.”

What guides Paddling Together?

Paddling Together builds on what the FNHA learned and heard through engagements with First Nations across BC and through ongoing review of community and regional plans and priorities. Grounded in its 7 Directives and Shared Values and guided by its Shared Vision, the Plan contains five new goals:

  1. Drive transformation through the BC First Nations Health Governance Structure and partnerships
  2. Enhance access to quality health and wellness services
  3. Enhance culturally safe mental health and wellness approaches
  4. Advance First Nations approaches to addressing anti-Indigenous racism in health
  5. Drive health and wellness innovation together with First Nations and other partners

These goals are tied to each FNHA Region’s health and wellness plans. Paddling Together also contains strategies which outline the work to be carried out in each of our goal areas, performance measures to monitor our Plan’s performance and guideposts to direct our future work.

We raise our hands and acknowledge the work that each FNHA staff member contributes every day to advancing progress on the FNHA’s goals and strategies.
