A message from Dr. Sheila Blackstock, Chair, Board of Directors and Monica McAlduff, Chief Executive Officer. It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the losses and injuries experienced at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver on the evening of April 26.
Our hearts and prayers are with all those who were in attendance celebrating the heroic legacy of Lapu-Lapu. Lapu-Lapu was a Visayan Chieftain who fought against Spanish colonization so future generations were free to proudly carry their cultural heritage forward.
We acknowledge that this grief and loss is felt across the Filipino community, and by their loved ones, and in the spirit of this festival we stand with and care for you.
