The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) invites First Nations individuals living in BC to participate in the HPV Cancer Care Art Contest.
Contest theme
The FNHA invites you to express your perspectives and cultural values on community wellness, HPV and cancer prevention. The contest theme, 'For you, your future, your community,' asks people to stand together against cancers caused by HPV.
Some ideas for your submission(s) include:
- First Nations experiences and perspectives of community or wholistic wellness.
- Anything personally meaningful to you about HPV and cancers caused by HPV.
- What the contest theme means to you.
- Intergenerational knowledge sharing about HPV.
- What you would say to others about getting the HPV vaccine.
Submission guidelines
Please follow the guidelines below when creating and submitting your work:
- There are three different categories you can submit to: visual art, storytelling and poetry.
- Each contestant can make up to three submissions in total. You can submit in any of the three categories or in the same category.
- There are two different age categories for the contest: 11-18 and 19+. There will be three winning submissions selected from each age category.
- All submissions must be original works created by the contestant. Art poetry and stories generated by artificial intelligence will not be accepted.
- No photography.
- The contest is open to First Nations individuals living in BC ages 11 and above.
- Artists retain copyright over their work while granting FNHA permission to use submissions as HPV resources.
- Please refer to the chart below for specific instructions for each submission category:

Prizes
Contest winners will receive prize money, and their submission will be displayed in FNHA's HPV information resources. Prizes include:
- $50 for the first 25 individuals to enter
- Six $500 prizes for winning submissions
Three $500 prizes will be awarded for each age category (11–18 and 19+). If you submit three entries in your age category, you could win up to $1,500 if selected!
Deadline
The contest closes June 30, 2025. Winners will be announced in August 2025.
