Plus, by taking part in the contest you'll be entered for a chance to win a $500 prize.

How to enter:

  1. Register for your FREE Talk Tobacco account or login to your existing account
  2. Complete the First Week Challenge Contest Entry Form
  3. Quit for (at least) the first seven days of the next month

Who is Talk Tobacco?

Talk Tobacco is a service for First Nations, Inuit or Métis individuals who want to quit smoking or vaping commercial tobacco. In 2022, the First Nations Health Authority partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society to launch the Talk Tobacco service in BC.

Talk Tobacco provides culturally specific, free and confidential support and information about quitting smoking or vaping. Talk Tobacco's phone, live chat and text services connect tobacco users with a Quit Coach for real-time, personalized support wherever they are in their quitting journey.

Why is quitting smoking important?

Smoking is responsible for an estimated 30 per cent of all cancer deaths in Canada. It is estimated that over 85 per cent of all lung cancer cases are directly related to smoking commercial tobacco. Lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among First Nations people, with a worrying trend showing these rates are increasing.
