BC First Nations Celebrate Culture and Wellness Online

7/7/2020

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, First Nations and Indigenous people across BC are celebrating culture, wellness and resilience at events sponsored by FNHA Wellness Grants. Over the coming weeks, grants will support innovative online celebrations, reflecting the current provincial COVID-19 guidelines.

The FNHA is sponsoring 114 events that reflect the diversity of First Nations in BC, including events in all five regions. Over the coming days and weeks, thousands of Indigenous people and their neighbours will attend these digital celebrations, including online cooking classes, storytelling with Elders, scavenger hunts and photo challenges, physically distanced powwows, language lessons and more!

Many events are open to all community members across BC and can be joined online. View an interactive map of events throughout the province here.

Day of Wellness events celebrate and showcase community health and wellness as defined by First Nations and Indigenous communities across BC. The FNHA has invested more than 3.0 million dollars to support 1,596 Indigenous Peoples Day of Wellness and Winter Wellness events since 2014.
