Changes to Pharmacy Billing Process for Compounds should not affect Clients

11/2/2015

Compounds, also called mixtures, are items your pharmacist prepares at the pharmacy especially for each client. Eye drops and skin creams are two examples of compounds.

Beginning November 9th, the way pharmacists bill for compounds is changing – but it should not affect clients as FNHA benefits coverage has not changed.

In the unlikely event that an issue does arise, ask your pharmacist to contact the NIHB Drug Exception Centre and ask for a review. All pharmacists have this telephone number.

If clients still have questions about this change after visiting the pharmacist, please call FNHA Health Benefits at 1.800.317.7878. FNHA Health Benefits will be happy to work with clients on any issues they may have.

Although FNHA delivers Health Benefits to First Nations clients in BC, some benefit areas such as Pharmacy is under the process of 'buy-back' until it is fully transitioned to the FNHA which is set for 2017. Find out more about buy-back here: www.fnha.ca/benefits/faqs
