We support health and wellness by focusing on prevention, treatment, and management of communicable diseases (CD) in First Nations communities.​

Key Goals: prevent disease | increase knowledge | build capacity | support cultural safety

Core Service​​s

Consultation and planning for CD outbreaks and emergencies:

  • Advise and consult with health leadership, CHNs, BCCDC, and regional health authorities on CD prevention and management, along with health authorities.
  • ​Support Health Directors, CHNs, and communities in pandemic planning for CD emergencies and outbreaks in health care settings so that essential programming is minimally disrupted.
Build capacity and share knowledge with communities and care providers on emerging CD:
  • Equip health care providers and communities with up-to-date information to address CD effectively through education, training, and access to resources.
  • Promote CD awareness and prevention through education workshops, webinars, promotional materials, resources and social marketing campaigns.
Collaborate with communities to support cultural safety of CD responses:
  • Work with community partners and regional and provincial health organizations to ensure CD practices and response are culturally safe and meet the needs of First Nations communities.​
