FNHA Cancels Service Agreement with Inter-Tribal Health Authority

1/11/2019

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) has given notice to cancel its service agreement with the Inter-Tribal Health Authority (ITHA) on Vancouver Island.

The notice period began Dec. 21 and the agreement will end on March 31, 2019.

ITHA is not in compliance with its funding agreement obligations to provide transparent cooperation to external auditors and FNHA is obliged to take this necessary step.

FNHA will be working with our communities and service partners to ensure service continuity during this transition.

The top priority for FNHA is to provide our clients the quality services they deserve, and FNHA will continue to act decisively to ensure the highest standards are maintained.

BACKGROUND

FNHA has two contribution agreements with ITHA totalling over $8.8 million to provide health services to 29 First Nation communities and an estimated 14,000 clients.
