Spring is in the air! The sun is shining brighter, the flowers are blooming, and many of us are getting outside to enjoy the warmer weather and the beauty of nature. All of this makes it a great time to jumpstart our physical health by committing to being more active.
For that reason, we're inviting you to join the FNHA's annual 30x30 Active Challenge Campaign. All you have to do to participate is commit to doing at least 30 minutes of any activity for each of the 30 days of June!
The theme for this year's challenge is “Time to Get Active," because being active consistently is good for our overall wellness. This time is also about honouring where you are at on your wholistic wellness journey. Being active takes many different forms and looks different for everyone, so it is important not to compare your movement or exercise plans with others'. This is about you and your journey alone!
This is also a wonderful opportunity to connect with folks in your community to join you in the challenge. It can be friends, family or even people in your community with whom you share common interests, goals and enjoy similar activities. Who knows, you might learn a new skill or a new activity that you incorporate into your wellness journey!
How to Participate in this year's 30x30 Active Challenge:
- Download and print the 30x30 Calendar, Activity Log and Bingo Sheet.
- Engage in 30 days of active wellness activities for the month of June, including tracking your water consumption.
- At the end of the month, scan and email your completed 30x30 Calendar and the Activity Log sheets to active@fnha.ca.
- The Wellness Initiative team will randomly draw 20 participants from the completed calendars who will win a prize!
Here are some ways that may support you on your active wellness journey:
- Remember, if you are just beginning or are resuming your physical wellness journey, it is advisable to first check in with your primary care provider - and remember to be patient with yourself!
- The 30 minutes is a recommendation, and could be split into two 15-minute, three 10-minute, or even six 5-minute sessions, if necessary. Do what works for you and what nurtures your spirit!
- Invite your family, friends and community members to take part in the 30x30 challenge with you.
- Read 30x30 Healthy Community Wellness Champion Stories from previous years on our 30x30 Active Challenge Wellness page.
- Share photos or posts or tag us on social media about your participation to encourage and inspire others. (Be sure to use the hashtags #FNHAWellness, #30x30ActiveChallengeFNHA and #BeActiveFNHA.)
