First Recorded BC First Nations Community COVID-19 Fatality

4/26/2020

It is with heavy hearts we acknowledge news of the first recorded BC First Nations community COVID-19 fatality. The First Nations Health Authority and the First Nations Health Council offer their deepest condolences to the family and community for the loss of a beloved family member. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the loss at this difficult time.

We recognize the devastating impacts such a loss has on our communities, particularly when we are unable to come together in ways that honor our cultural protocols.

Now more than ever, we encourage our families and communities to uphold public health measures so that, when it is safe to do so, we can once again gather to support one another.

These include limiting gatherings and maintaining the recommended physical distancing from each other of 2 meters (6 feet).

We are resilient peoples, and we will get through this unprecedented situation together.
