The plan outlines FNHA's priorities, goals and guideposts for advancing First Nations health and wellness in BC
First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is delighted to share the 2026/27 Summary Service Plan, Paddling Together: First Nations Health Authority Health and Wellness Plan. This plan maps the next phase of our shared journey toward our shared vision of “Healthy, Self-Determining and Vibrant BC First Nations Children, Families and Communities."
How we refreshed our Plan
The Plan builds on what FNHA learned and heard through engagements with First Nations across BC. It is informed by a comprehensive environmental scan that drew on diverse sources, including the First Nations Population Health and Wellness Agenda: First Interim Update, 2024, the FNHA-FNHDA-FNHC Three Pillars Shared Priorites, and key evaluation findings from the 2024 Evaluation of the BC Tripartite Framework Agreement on First Nation Health Governance and the 2024 Evaluation of the FNHA.
The refreshed Summary Service Plan plan reflects new and emerging trends and priorities shaping health and wellness services, influencing First Nations health outcomes and impacting FNHA's operating environment.
Goals that Guide Our Work
Grounded in FNHA's 7 Directives and Shared Values and guided by its Shared Vision, the plan contains five goals:
- Drive transformation through the BC First Nations Health Governance Structure and partnerships
- Enhance access to quality health and wellness services
- Enhance culturally safe mental health and wellness approaches
- Advance First Nations approaches to addressing anti-First Nations racism in health
- Drive health and wellness innovation together with First Nations and other partners
These goals are closely aligned with the priorities of each region. The plan includes clear strategies for advancing each goal area, performance measures to monitor progress and annual priorities that highlight FNHA's focus on supporting goal achievement for the year ahead.
