Stay local, be safe and have fun.

The May long weekend is almost here and this is a great opportunity to nurture your spirit. Take some time to take care of yourself.

More than ever, we need to hold the line.

The curve has been flattened, and the Province of BC is preparing to relax some of the COVID-19 restrictions, including permitting gatherings of 2-6 people. However, we urge people and communities to continue social distancing, hand-washing and being cautious.  COVID-19 is still with us.

Stay local/Reconnect to the land.

Many of us are incredibly fortunate to have access to our traditional territories and to be able to spend time on our lands and waters whether we are living in our ancestral territories or if we have to travel to reconnect.

But remember to avoid unnecessary travel and stay close to home if you can.

Reflect and learn.

Each of us play a role in protecting our communities and loved ones. Keeping our elders and knowledge keepers safe is more important now than ever.

Thank you for staying strong and committed. We are proud of all BC First Nations community responses and their success in protecting those we love.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy weekend.
