First Nations Telehealth Expansion Project Letter of Invitation

9/24/2013

WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Dear BC First Nations Health Service Providers,

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) has initiated the First Nations Telehealth Expansion Project (FNTEP). Telehealth will improve BC First Nations access to a variety of health and wellness services (e.g. mental health, wound care, maternal care, primary care) through the use of communication technologies. Telehealth also offers an opportunity for patients and health care providers to access education at a distance. You can read more about what telehealth is and how it could benefit your community in the Telehealth Expansion Project Fact Sheet.

Our FNTEP team will work with First Nations Health Service Organizations (FNHSOs) from all regions of BC to develop telehealth services that address each community's unique health and wellness priorities.  It is important to note that not all communities currently have the technical infrastructure to implement a fully functional telehealth service at this time.  However, the FNHA is working holistically through a number of other eHealth projects to address these technical challenges.

This will not be your only opportunity to participate in telehealth.   After the completion of the first phase of the project, the FNHA telehealth team will continue to work with additional communities, where there is interest, to further expand telehealth services for BC First Nations.

Our intent is to help integrate telehealth into health and wellness service delivery. Implementing telehealth may bring changes to day-to-day work; however, our team will work closely with FNHSOs to make this change process as straightforward as possible.

And now - we would like to hear from you!

If you are interested in telehealth please download and complete the  form below and return it by November 1, 2013. Please join our team for a Telehealth presentation and discussion on October 23rd, at Gathering Wisdom for a Shared Journey.
